BancorpSouth and Pickering, Inc. were listed in the Memphis Business Journal’s Best Places to Work.  Winners of the award were chosen based on the score from a 40-question online employee survey conducted by Quantum Market Research.

Shali Atkinson of Regions/Morgan Keegan was chosen for the Memphis Business Journal’s annual Top 40 Under 40.  Atkinson was chosen from a total of 150 nominees, who were recommended by a boss, colleague, friend or family member.

Sunny Stuckey and Chuck Roberts were chosen as the Southaven Chamber of Commerce’s Woman and Man of the Year for 2006.  Stuckey and Roberts were honored at the Chamber’s Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Luncheon.

Former State Representative Valeria Robertson and State Representative Wanda Jennings were selected by the Mississippi Republican Women as the DeSoto County-Mississippi Federation of Republican Women “Women of Tribute Award.”  Robertson served eight years as District 6 State Representative before retiring, and Jennings has served for nine years as District 7 Representative.

Hernando lawyers Paul Scott and Gerald Chatham have been listed in The Best Lawyers in America’s 2007 directory.  Scott is listed for his work in the field of eminent domain and condemnation law, and is the only lawyer in Mississippi to be listed in that field.  Chatham is listed for his criminal defense and personal injury litigation.

At the Hernando Main Street/Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Meeting, Joan Ferguson and Keith Hawkins were honored as Ambassadors of the Year, and Great River Beverage received the President’s Award for Outstanding Support.

Michael Garriga, DeSoto County Administrator, has been named to the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40.  The publication, based in Jackson, names the annual list based on leadership and business skills, community involvement and dedication to economic progress.  Recipients must meet requirements including having lived and worked in Mississippi for at least two years.

Senator Doug Davis was named a Legislative Friend of Tourism by the Mississippi Tourism Association for his efforts that led to the successful passage of legislation that will benefit the Riverbend development in DeSoto County.
