A. W. Bouchillon Honored with Institute, Reception
Recently, planners, developers and public officials launched the A. W. Bouchillon Institute for Community Planning. The Institute was named in honor of DeSoto County’s first planning director, who fifty years ago foresaw the growth of DeSoto County. (see article in October 2007 Building for the Future).
County officials held a reception to honor Bouchillon as well. More than 100 people attended the reception, held December 3 at the DeSoto Civic Center.
The A. W. Bouchillon Institute will co-sponsor a Sustainability Conference January 10 and 11, 2008 at the Hernando Performing Arts Center. Other co-sponsors include the Natural Resources Initiative of North Mississippi, City of Hernando and Mississippi Forestry Commission.
